About the Market

About the Market

The Harbor Springs Farmers Market is more than just a market. It is a community event that supports numerous local businesses all while providing the freshest and highest quality foods in the area. Our market is independently managed by the non-profit organization Farming for Our Future. The HSFM moved to downtown Harbor Springs in 2010 and has grown exponentially since then. With over 30 full time vendors, 20+ guest vendors, and 30+ Young Entrepreneurs our market boasts a wide variety of products including fresh fruits & vegetables, baked goods, flowers, jams, jellies, syrup, honey, cheese, and select crafts. Our outdoor market is located right downtown Harbor Springs on Saturdays Memorial Day weekend through the third weekend in October, and Wednesdays June-August. Our indoor market is hosted at the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society the Saturday before Thanksgiving and the Saturday before Christmas. Our regular markets along with various events including Kids Days, Community Blood Drives, and our Fall Festival “Harbor Harvest” all draw additional people into the downtown area. Our daily customer numbers range from 1000-5000 people, many that go on to support brick and mortar businesses while downtown. Our various Youth Programs including The Young Entrepreneur, Kids Club, and Market Sprouts help teach kids the importance of healthy living and supporting local. Live music has also become a favorite activity at the market. Many customers bring their own chairs, or sit at the picnic table and play our provided games, read from the “market library” and dance along to the music. We even host several field trips with local senior centers so they can join in on the fun. Although we have a thriving market, there is always room for improvement, additional collaborations, growth of communication, development of new programs, and more. There is a suggestion form on our website and we are always open to hearing new ideas or issues. We hope will find out for yourself all that the Harbor Springs Farmers Market has to offer.
